The Museum of Olive Oil of Cantinarte is placed in a small village called Bucchianico (Chieti) and it offer a full immersion into the culture of olive oil to those visitors who wish to rediscover a piece of XVIII century industrial archaeology with its working features-people’s choral work aided by animals. It is a unique chance to meditate about the past with its natural cycles, calm and patience and to compare old methods and results with today’s procedures of oil production. It is a place that tells about a past generations that accepted life in contact with the land as a gift from nature, awaiting with anxiety and accepted with care and attention, while praying for a rich crop.The Mill (frantoio) has been restored in Museum


of Olive oil with care and in order to allow visitors to admire the beauty of a millstone and press dating back to XVI century, inviting them to stop and see the important details , such as for example the ruts created by the donkey, a key element in the rural culture. Visit the oil mill in order to be able to imagine how it looked like in the past and how important was for rural communities to produce oil, a sort of yellow gold, trading currency and symbol of affluence. In the restoration attention has been paid in avoiding to alter its natural beauty, full of history. Therefore no change has been made in the interiors spaces and architectural elements of the place. This has been maintained with special care.

A guided visit to the CantinArte Museum Of Olive Oil focused on LEARNING BY FUN, which consist in a:
1 Visit to the olive oil mill built in XVII CENTURY as an outstanding example of industrial archeology and of its ancient manufacturies, emphasizing animal powered function.
2 “Poetic“ VIDEO about the cicle of making olive oil, you will know what there is behind the bottle of extra virgin olive oil.
3 Sensorial analysis, interactive play, using the SMELL. This experience is important as a traning before tasting the olive oil. We will understand how important is to use our senses.
4 Interesting and interactive lesson about olive oil taken by an expert who will organize a guided degustation of different oils, talking about the differences and the peculiar characteristics of each cultivar and enjoy the senses: the smell and the taste.

CantinArte Museum of Olive Oil is DIFFERENT from the normal museum, here we love to create interactive play with the visitor.
